Getting Started

When our first release is ready
  1. Download the package and extract to a folder on your computer. A good place would be C:\Program Files\TAPI Connector for Dynamics CRM 2011\ but it can be run from anywhere.
  2. Run tapicrm.exe, right click on the icon that appears in your system tray and click Properties
  3. Enter the connection settings for your Dynamics CRM 2011 server
  4. Click 'Get Organisations' and choose your organisation to test the connection, then click OK.

Congratulations, now when your phone rings, TAPI Connector for Dynamics CRM 2011 should pop up an unobtrusive balloon in your system tray with the name of the caller and a link to their customer record.

Tested with the following phone systems (for caller ID functionality)
  • Cisco UC500
  • Avaya IP Office

Business Deployment

TAPI Connector for Dynamics CRM 2011 has been designed with simple business deployment in mind. It is complicated enough getting the TAPI drivers configured, the next step should be as simple as possible.

A typical business deployment with an on-premise Dynamics CRM 2011 server and Windows Authentication (using Active Directory) would look like this

Registry settings for On-Premise deployment with Windows Authentication

The following is an example configuration registry file which could easily be deployed using Group Policy. Because this example is using Windows Auth, no usernames or passwords need to be stored.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\\TAPI Connector for Dynamics CRM 2011\]
"OrganizationFriendlyName"="Friendly Organisation Name"
"ConnectionName"="Organisation Name"
